Kitchen design and layout planning is the work that happens before anyone picks up a hammer. A designer or design-build firm looks at how you cook, how much storage you need, and how the room connects to the rest of your house, then works out where the sink, range, refrigerator and cabinets should go so the space actually functions. That includes the classic work triangle (or zones, in an open-plan kitchen), traffic flow, counter clearances, ventilation placement, electrical and plumbing rough-in points, and often a 3D rendering or CAD plan you can review before construction starts.
